Galveston Island, Texas– Galveston Historical Foundation’s Texas Seaport Museum is seeking hardy volunteers to learn the ropes on board the 1877 iron barque ELISSA and help maintain the National Historic Landmark tall ship.
Palestine, Texas- Palestine will soon be home to an innovative pop-up museum filled with exhibits that explore science, technology, engineering, the arts and math in a hands-on environment. Based on the world-famous Exploratorium in San Francisco, CA, it is the brain child of the ICEE Success Foundation and the STEAMRollers. The exhibit will promote creative and innovation thinking skills that are important for all ages. It is called a pop-up museum because, for the time being, it will be opened for a certain time period.
Lufkin Texas- After another successful Texas State Forest Festival, the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce brought home 31 different awards from the Texas Festivals and Events Association (TFEA). The Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce won the Zenith award; which is presented to the best 2014 festival in the state in each budget category. The Chamber was also presented with twenty 1st place awards, eight 2nd place awards and three 3rd place award.
