27th Annual PRCA Stampede Rodeo in Athens
ATHENS —The 27th Annual PRCA Stampede Rodeo promises to be one of the most exciting yet! The PRCA Stampede Rodeo is the longest running rodeo in Henderson County. The annual 2-day rodeo begins this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Henderson County Fairpark Complex., but the gates will be open by 5 p.m.
For the first time in 27 years the Annual PRCA Stampede Rodeo in Athens will feature a new all-adult women’s calf scramble for big bucks. Contestants will compete in events including team roping, barrel racing, calf roping, and bull riding. Ladies hoping to participate in the all-adult women’s calf scramble must be over 21 years-old. This event will take place on both nights of the rodeo. The prize for winning is $250.
In previous years Slack Time has taken place on Thursday night, however, this year Slack will take place Friday, after the rodeo around 9:30 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to stick around for Slack Time.
There will be plenty to do in advance, and even after the rodeo until 12:00 a.m. There will be an inflatable carnival, rock climbing wall, mechanical bull, train rides, a petting zoo & pony rides, along with all of the other rodeo fun! The rides and the bounce house tickets are $5 each, and the inflatables in the kid zone are $10, good for all inflatable devices. Train rides around the complex are $5, and the mechanical bull rides are also $5 per person.
Get your rodeo tickets at a discounted price by going to Lone Star Western Wear, Kathy’s Boutique, Cavender’s, Citizen’s National Bank, First State Bank, Prosperity Bank, Texas Trust Credit Union and the Athens Chamber of Commerce. Tickets at these locations can be purchased for $5 for children age 12 and under. Adult tickets can be purchased for $10 from these merchants. Tickets at the gate will cost $12 per person.
