Weaver Street Dedication Set
NACOGDOCHES- Arthur Weaver helped found the Nacogdoches Chapter of NAACP, organized the Nacogdoches County Voter’s League and the Nacogdoches County Community Foundation. Mr. Weaver’s homestead is located on the corner of Martin Luther King Drive, and Lucas Street. Recently a request was made to rename Lucas Street in honor of Mr. Weaver. The request was submitted to the recently formed “Naming Committee.” The committee’s recommendation was heard and approved by the Nacogdoches City Council last month. “It is our privilege to be able to honor Mr. Weaver and his accomplishments in this way,” said Mayor Roger Van Horn. Real fast, without thinking too much about it, how could you tell if a woman in a movie is supposed to be perceived as intelligent? Well, she’d probably be brunette, for starters. She’d probably have glasses, and wear little to no makeup. Her dark tresses would most likely be pulled up in a ponytail or a messy bun. Similarly, her clothing would be some slightly oversized and most likely Gap or J. Crew. How would we know she was the smart chick?
