Jefferson, Texas- Get fired up for Memorial Day and bring the family to ride on an antique narrow-gauge train along the Big Cypress Bayou in Jefferson, Texas. Come for lunch, a free movie and a train ride. Enjoy the excellent view of the ride along the river in the open-canopied observation cars.
Galveston Island, Texas- The island’s historic City Cemetery on Broadway is floating on a sea of firewheels and coreposis this May. Known for being the final resting place of many who died in the Great Hurricane of 1900, the cemeteries are also known for the yellow blanket of Texas wildflowers they adorn each May. No need to bring flowers if you visit this cemetery in May!
Alto, Texas- Caddo Mounds State Historic Site invites the public to participate in their Caddo Culture Day event. Experience Caddo history and culture through a variety of activities, including performances of Caddo Indian music and dance. Try your hand at making stone tools and throwing the atlatl. Enjoy Indian tacos, guided tours, American Indian exhibits, jewelry, beadwork, and other presentations and exhibits.
