Come “Love Your Old Building” at the Main Street Preservation Workshops

PALESTINE- Owners and everyone who loves the historic old structures in Palestine are invited to a free series of workshops focusing on preservation and rehabilitation Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sherwin-Williams Paints,2025 Crockett Rd.

The “Love Your Old Building” workshop series by thePalestine Main Streetdepartment features short, informative thirty-minute workshops by local restoration, building and service experts.

“May is National Preservation Month and what better time to offer support to the owners of historic properties,” said Main Street Manager Laura Westgate. “Workshops will cover a range of topics. We’ll have workshops on subjects like pest exclusion, how to work with and handle existing lead paint, protection of precious stained-glass windows, and even one on the financial benefits of preservation.”

Ms. Westgate added, “The Main Street Board reached out to businesses that provide products and services for renovation; City of Palestine employees who work with owners; and individuals who are in the trenches restoring and lavishing love on these historic structures. Without the support of our presenters and sponsors we would not be able to offer this much valuable info for free.”

Snacks will be hosted by The Cuckoo’s Nest (215 E. Crawford), The Ranch House (305 E. Crawford) and beverages by Sherwin-Williams.

Thank you to our partners for this event: City of Palestine, Sherwin-Williams Paint, Nostalgic Timbercraft, Palestine Economic Development Corporation, East Texas Pest Control, The Ranch House and The Cuckoo’s Nest.
