Lost In Upshur County

The powers that be here in Upshur County divided the county into four distinct areas and in the Northeast quadrant the roads are named after flowers, in the Northwest quadrant the roads are named after animals, the Southeast they are named after birds and the Southwest they are named after trees. It makes for some pretty swell road names. Which would you rather live on, Newt or Jackrabbit?

67th Annual Peanut Festival
Grapeland- Texas Festivals are a dime a dozen, as Texans seemingly find reasons to celebrate. Festivals in the state are held in the name of flowers of all kinds, practically any kind of fruit you can think of, rattle snakes, chiggers, oil, kolaches, Shakespeare, and even the movie, Lonesome Dove. But not all community festivals catch on, and there are certainly none like that of the Grapeland Peanut Festival.
