El Camino Real Exhibit on Display at the Visitors Center
NACOGDOCHES- The annual Nine Flags Christmas Festival honors the cultures represented by the nine flags that have flown over Nacogdoches throughout its rich history and this year it pays special tribute to the Spanish flag. In honor of this year’s featured flag, the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau will host the El Camino Real Exhibit December 6 through January 6.
The free public exhibit explores Spain’s and Mexico’s involvement with Texas and its connection to the 2,500-mile historic El Camino Real trail. The exhibit will feature panels with old maps, photographs and other historical documents. Visitors may view the exhibit at the Visitors Center, 200 E. Main, Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Nine Flags Christmas Festival is a celebration of Texas history & culture and will be held Nov. 17 through Dec. 8 in Nacogdoches, located about 150 miles north of Houston via U.S. 59. Platinum sponsors of the festival include Commercial Bank of Texas, Lumberjack Lofts / Legends at SFA, metroPCS, Mike Perry Motor Company, and Walmart.
