THC Historic Sites Free Day
AUSTIN- The Texas Historical Commission’s (THC) annual Historic Sites Day will offer FREE admission to all 20 state historic sites on Sunday, May 13. THC is the state agency for historic preservation. THC staff consults with citizens and organizations to preserve Texas’ architectural, archaeological and cultural landmarks. The agency is recognized nationally for its preservation programs.
Palestine, Texas- Celebrate Texas at the Texas Theatre this month! Palestine Community Theatre presents Texas-size comedy in Rex’s Exes, under the direction of Dana Goolsby the last two weekends of March. March marks important moments in Texas history and is the perfect time to celebrate what makes Texans so unique!
The Davy Crockett National Forest, named for the legendary pioneer, contains more than 160,000 acres of East Texas woodlands, streams, recreation areas, and wildlife habitat. Located in Houston and Trinity Counties, the forest is centrally located within the Neches and Trinity River basins. The ranger district office is located near Ratcliff on Highway 7 about one-quarter mile west of FM 227 in Houston County.
