Jacksonville, Texas- In just 3 short minutes the 2015 Tomato Eating Champion will be announced during the 31st Annual Tomato Fest. This eating ordeal is one of many events that will take place on Saturday, June 13th in downtown Jacksonville.
The Tomato Eating Contest first challenge is between several local celebrities, Sheriff James Campbell, County Judge Chris Davis, County Commissioner Byron Underwood, Councilman Jeff Smith, Jacksonville Fire Chief Keith Fortner, Economic Director Marc Farmer, Troy Parker from Jacksonville ISD, Beverly ‘Cheater’ Jimerson and several others ready to take the 2015 title. The second challenge is with kiddos ages 7-12. This tasty challenge is sponsored by Citizen’s 1st Bank.
Activities downtown are from 9 am – 4 pm including 30 events, 200+ vendors, lots of foods, Farmers Market, Salsa Contest, Car/Motorcycle Show, Soccer Tournament, History Display, Health Screening, Texas Lottery spinning wheel & prizes, Tomato Shoot, Tomato Archery, Entertainment, $1000 Photo Contest, $500 Got Talent Contest, History Display, Best Home Grown Tomato Contest (Cherokee Co. Farmers only), Tomato Peeling Contest, Tomato Tour, Retailers Tomato Fest specials and more. Beginning at 4 pm Gospel Concert featuring Casey Rivers and local favorite Mark Hanks will be held inside the Norman Center. The Street Dance begins at 7 pm at Chili’s Restaurant featuring Lady Chazz & the Tramps, Reagan Johnson & Group Therapy. Got a great Bloody Mary recipe?
