If These Walls Could Talk

Who Haunts the Texas?

PALESTINE- Have you ever visited the Texas Theatre and felt like someone was watching you? If so, you aren’t alone. If the walls of the nearly a century-old Texas Theatre could talk, what would they say? That is what ghost hunters all over East Texas want to know.

In recent months, the Texas was investigated by the Sonshine Paranormal Investigators of Ft. Worth. Over the course of 2012, Sonshine investigated multiple locations in Palestine. Clay and Barbara Henderson, founders of the group, were drawn to Palestine’s incredible history and continue to investigate houses, buildings, and businesses in Palestine on a regular basis.

Saturday, February 23, the Texas will host a “Ghosts” Reveal at 7:30p.m. Palestine Community Theatre members will present songs from past performances before Sonshine Paranormal reveals their findings from their investigation. Sonshine Paranormal will present a video of their investigation of the Texas, along with excerpts from other investigations conducted in Palestine. After the video presentation, guests will get a sneak peak of “Ghosts the Musical,” which will come to life on stage this spring.

“Ghosts the Musical” is about an old theatre in danger of being torn down because it is in poor condition. Sound familiar? But the actors and actresses who have passed that once loved the theatre come back to save the theatre! This show has ben dubbed a ghoulish-haunted-otherworldly-spooktacular-theatrical show!

Tickets for “Ghosts” the Musical will go on sale Saturday, February 23, at the Reveal. The show will open Friday, March 22, at 7:30p.m. Show dates include March 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, and April 5, 6 and 7. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. We expect this show to sell out so don’t wait until the last minute to purchase tickets! Tickets will be available at the theatre the night of the Reveal.

If you are interested in taking a tour of the Texas, come early and take a tour with long-time PCT member, John Lamb. Lamb will detail the theatre’s history and changes that have been made over the years beginning at 7p.m. Go all the way to the third floor and see what once was the projection room of the Texas when it was a Rob & Rowley Theater, see the stage from the balcony, and go back stage to see how things work behind the scenes. Don’t forget to bring your camera to see if you capture anything strange and unusual while on the tour!

Admission to the “Ghosts” Reveal is free!

Stick around after the Reveal and have dessert with us from Sarah Anne’s Shoppe! Sarah Anne will be serving three different deliciously spooky mini cupcakes.
