It’s Nashville!! It’s Branson!! It’s…….Crockett??

CROCKETT —
The Shoji Tabuchi Christmas Show is coming to Crockett!! Yes, that’s right, in his first tour in over twenty years! The world-famous Shoji Tabuchi along with his beautiful wife Dorothy and delightful daughter Christina will perform his spectacular Christmas show at the Crockett Civic Center, 7:30pm on Friday December 14.

Mr. Tabuchi is bringing his seven-piece band, each member having one or more degrees in music, to play everything from country/ bluegrass to classical! This show encompasses the wholesome, family-oriented values of Christmas; yet rivals the pure excitement of New York or Las Vegas and has been one of the most popular shows in Branson for the past twenty-two years!!

In referring to Mr. Tabuchi and his show, US News & World Report wrote, “may be unequaled anywhere for showmanship”

Mr. Tabuchi learned to play the fiddle in his native Japan at the age of seven. He was always a fan of American country music and vowed to one day play in the States. He met Roy Acuff of the Grand Ole Opry, when Mr. Acuff was on tour in Japan in the 50’s. Mr. Acuff told young Shoji to look him up if he ever made it to Nashville. Shoji followed his dream of playing country/bluegrass music in the States and came to America with $500 and his fiddle. Landing on the West Coast in San Francisco, Shoji eventually made it to Nashville and found Mr. Acuff. After appearing on the Grand Ole Opry a few times and starting to make a name for himself, Mr. Tabuchi decided to dream a little bigger.

In 1980, Mr. Tabuchi built his elaborate theatre on the strip in Branson and has been performing to sold-out audiences for twenty-two years straight! His theatre is a sight-to-see and has been impressing visitors since its completion. Decorated in the style of the grand theatres of the 1930’s, even the bathrooms are impressive, having been written up in travel magazines!

He has never recorded on a major record label but consistently ranks at the top as a fan-favorite! Mr. Tabuchi has not toured in the past twenty-two years and is excited to be back on the road. Tickets for this family show begin at $32 and are selling fast!

Bryan Lake, Executive Director of PWFAA said, “We are really excited to bring this show to Crockett, I can’t think of a better way to start the holiday season! This one-of-a-kind spectacular show is not to be missed!”

This show is presented by the Piney Woods Fine Arts Association with KIVY/KMVL Radio, Houston County Life, Houston County Courier and Messenger and sponsored by the Houston County Electric Cooperative and Citizens National Bank.
