Missoula Children’s Theatre presents “The Secret Garden”

Crockett—Do you want your kids to experience the magic and spectacle of live-theatre and spark their interest in the performing arts? Would you like to give them the opportunity to get on stage and perform in a full-length professionally produced show?  Then the Piney Woods Fine Arts Association has the answer for you!

Every summer Missoula Children’s Theatre comes to Crockett to host a week-long theatre-residency for children in 1st grade through high school. Anyone wanting to participate, regardless of experience, is encouraged to audition. The auditions are Monday June 10 promptly at 10:00 am at the Crockett Civic Center, so please arrive early!! Rehearsals begin immediately after auditions and are every afternoon for the rest of the week.  The children will then present two performances on Saturday for paying audiences.

The Missoula staff will also have workshops at the Crockett Public Library on Tues., Wed. and Thurs. from 3:00-4:00pm. These workshops will teach the children in a fun way about basic movement for the stage, introduce them to stage make-up and instruct them in the actor’s tools: concentration, memorization and imagination. The workshops are separate from the rehearsal process and are open to any child regardless if they are in the show or not.  This is a great opportunity to expose your children to the magic of theatre!!  Participation in Missoula Children’s Theatre is FREE!, the only requirement is that the child has completed Kindergarten.

Missoula Children’s Theatre mission statement: The development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts. Although MCT’s programs tour to major metropolitan centers, MCT remains dedicated to providing financially accessible arts experiences to all communities, regardless of size or economic status. Many of the communities served by MCT are isolated, culturally deprived and/or economically depressed. Live theatre participation, qualified drama teachers and educationally sound music programs within the curriculum are often non-existent or low on the priority scale. Constructive opportunities in the performing arts are rare, and the chance to spark a new interest often goes unkindled. MCT’s programs can and do provide the kindling to ignite the flame of interest.

Piney Woods Fine Arts Association is able to present this wonderful opportunity to the children of East Texas free of charge due to the funding from state and federal grants.  Also PWFAA would like to thank the local businesses that continue to help us on our mission to provide quality arts education programs to children of Houston and the surrounding counties.

A registration form is available on the Piney Woods Fine Arts website at  Also, for more info call the PWFAA office Monday through Friday from 9:00-1:00 at (936) 544-4276.
