JEFFERSON- The Historic Jefferson Railway will recognize the pioneering men and women, known as cowboys, who helped establish America’s frontiers on July 27 & 28,  This year marks the 8th Annual National Day of the Cowboy. The mission of the National Day of the Cowboy nonprofit organization is to contribute to the preservation of America’s Cowboy heritage so that the history and culture which the United States Congress’s National Day of the Cowboy resolution honors, can be shared and perpetuated for the public good, through education, the arts, celebrations, gatherings, rodeos, and community activities.

Take a ride on an authentic steam train that is a replica of years gone by, with a narrated day tour Saturday, at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. Also, ghost stories will begin at 8 p.m. followed by a Ghost Train ride at 9 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. Historic Jefferson Railway is located at 400 E. Austin, in Jefferson.
