One of Those Days
You ever have one of those days? You know the kind. You just want to bite someone’s head off, then in the car you feel like crying your eyes out? Is this something only I have experienced?
So, my day goes a little like this… I wake up, (10 minutes later than I should but sleep is awesome), hit the restroom, try on everything in my closet before settling on something that feels mediocre, run over my kid (who woke up early-unlike me), kiss the boo-boo I caused, whip up some chocolate milk and a pop tart (that’s copyrighted so insert trademark logo here), shovel down a bowl of cereal (who has time for a real breakfast), put on some makeup (that never looks as good as it does on Friday), run a brush through the rat’s nest I have on my head, and herd myself and my kid out the door only to find that we are already late (imagine that…waking up late= leaving late).
Then it’s already a crazy morning because I’m a little late and feel rushed. Get to work and everyone has a question or needs something the moment I walk through the door. Get all of those problems settled and now it’s time to work. What am I doing today anyway?
After dodging one issue after another and smoothing over as many as possible, I am exhausted. The end of the day couldn’t come at a better time. It’s 1:00? Oh, geez… back to the grind.
Why can’t we petition for nap time at work? I mean, really? I think I would be so much more productive if I wasn’t so tired ALL THE TIME!
The end of the day finally arrives, I’ve barked orders, calmed criers, organized, shuffled, sorted, printed, deleted, started over, and adjusted the air conditioner about 80 times. How many hours are in a day?
So then it’s off to get some craft stuff for a project I’ve promised to do, get my kid a haircut, make a trip to Walmart, and serve up some unwanted leftovers for dinner.
Finally sitting down to write about it, I begin to feel a weight being lifted (albeit, ever so slowly). I might be able to make it back to work tomorrow.
So, anyone ever have a day like this?
I’m just saying…
