PCT to Host Auditions for FrUiTCaKeS at the Texas Theatre This Weekend

Texas TheatrePalestine, Texas- Palestine Community Theatre, Inc. is getting ready for Christmas In Palestine! If you have ever considered auditioning for a show at the Texas you will have an opportunity this weekend! PCT will host auditions for FrUiTCaKeS Saturday, November 1, at 10a.m. at the Texas Theatre.

Mix together a big batch of Fruitcakes, three dozen Christmas trees, 10,000 outdoor lights, a chicken pox epidemic, two southern spinsters, an estranged old man, a cat named Tutti Frutti and a Christmas hog named Buster and you’ve got the recipe for a fun-filled, heart warming holiday story. A runaway boy named Jamie has gone as far as his money will take him. At first he thinks the locals are “nuttier than fruitcakes,” but soon he comes to admire, appreciate and adore this nutty little town and those who call it home. FrUiTCaKeS is a moving story of alienation, understanding and reconciliation, with a heaping helping of Christmas cheer!

FrUiTCaKeS will be directed by Dana Goolsby with assistance from Sandy Webb. The cast requires four men, four women, six boys and seven girls, with room for a few extras ages 8-98. Actors and actresses should be prepared to read script excerpts selected by the director at auditions.

“Christmas is always a great time to get involved and volunteer,” said Director Dana Goolsby. She added, “The holidays are the perfect time to extend your family by joining our theatre family. The Texas Theatre is a wonderful place to make lasting memories and give back to your community.”

FrUiTCaKeS will run one weekend only from December 11, 12, 13, and 14. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30p.m. and Sunday at 2p.m. Tickets will be available online and locally soon.
