15th Annual Neches River Rendezvous
LUFKIN- Ready for some adventure? Mark your calendar for June 2, and take a 10-mile scenic canoe trip down the last wild river in Texas! This nature tourism event is designed to promote outdoor wilderness adventure in East Texas by framing a day of paddling with the panoramic Neches River and surrounding forests. Hurry! There are only 10 spots available for private canoe/kayak owners!
This event is moderately strenuous. Participation in the 10-mile canoe trip may consist of, but is not limited to: climbing up and down steep slopes, potential portage around obstructions in the river, and paddling. Temperatures are generally very warm in East Texas this time of year, with highs reaching into the 90’s. Please evaluate your physical condition prior to this event and use common sense and caution while participating.
A meal will be provided at the conclusion of the event. Each participant will be given a meal ticket after returning from the Neches River and when the “Paddle Pass” is turned in. Additional meal tickets can be purchased.

All participants will be required to wear life vests throughout the entire trip, and obey all laws and regulations by local Texas and U.S. governments. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Absolutely no alcohol will be allowed during this event.
Canoe rental is the participants’ responsibility. Rentals are limited and will not be available at the event.
Canoe registration is $60 and covers up to three people per canoe, two meal tickets and two t-shirts.
Kayak registration is $45 and covers one person per kayak, one meal ticket and one t-shirt.
All participants can pick up their registration packet Friday, June 1, from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Lufkin Chamber of Commerce, located at 1615 South Chestnut. Packets will also be available at North Boggy Slough on Saturday, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
All participants need to check in once they arrive at North Boggy Slough to pick up their “Paddle Pass.” This will be used to identify each canoe/kayak and participants during the event.
PARKING- Please park at North Boggy Slough. There will be a FREE shuttle service to and from the Neches River.
DIRECTIONS- From Lufkin take 103 West (towards Crockett). Once merged with Highway 7, go approximately one mile past the merge. North Boggy Slough will be on the left side of the highway, just past the river bridges.
