68th Annual Peanut Festival
Grapeland- The Queen City of the Sand Flats is preparing to host the 68th Annual Peanut Festival. Known for its elaborate floats and carnival atmosphere, the Grapeland Chamber of Commerce will hold its 68th Annual Peanut Festival, themed “The Great Outdoors.”
This year’s goober festival is slated for October 10-12, 2013.
Thursday, October 10, at 6:00 p.m. the Peanut Festival will begin with Family Night in the Grapeland City Park. Arm bands will be available. Carnival rides and candied apples will be available for all ages to enjoy.
The Grapeland Sandies Homecoming Game will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Sandie Stadium. Following the game, this year’s Street Dance will feature Blacktop Mojo.
The annual festival’s activities will get underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, with the kick-off of a parade down Main Street, followed activities in the city park. Activities include live entertainment throughout the day, midway games and carnival rides, various arts, crafts, and booths .
Saturday night Grapeland will crown the 68th Annual Peanut Queen during the Queen’s Coronation held annually at the Grapeland High School Auditorium.
