Jingle Bell Run set for December 1 in Nacogdoches

NACOGDOCHES – Grab your sneakers and join in the fun at the 16th annual Jingle Bell Run, one of the highlights of the Nine Flags Christmas Festival. This year’s event is sponsored by Lehmann Eye Center-Dr. Timothy Young, Nacogdoches Oil and Gas, and R & K Distributors.

The certified 5K run will start at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, in historic downtown Nacogdoches. This year’s 5K will again feature chip timing. The awards presentation will be held at approximately 9 a.m.  The Jingle Bell Run will start and end in downtown Nacogdoches, winding participants through the historic streets of the Oldest Town in Texas.

“The Jingle Bell Run offers something for everyone from the avid runner to the casual stroller,” said Lindsey Mathews, event coordinator for the Nacogdoches Convention & Visitors Bureau. “It’s a chance for everyone to enjoy the sights and sounds of the season in downtown Nacogdoches and walk or run off some of those extra holiday calories at the same time.”

The early registration deadline is November 20 with regular registration being accepted through the day of the race. Fees are $20 for early registration; $25 for regular registration; and $10 for children 12 and under.

Forms can be picked up at the Visitor Center, 200 E. Main St., downloaded at nineflagsfestival.com, or register online at active.com. You may also call (936) 564-7351 to request a form be mailed to you. Race-day registration will be from 6:45 to 7:30 a.m. at the Visitor Center. Pre-registered participants may pick their packets up early on Friday, November 30 from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

The Nine Flags Christmas Festival is a celebration of Texas history & culture and will be held Nov. 17 through Dec. 8 in Nacogdoches, located about 150 miles north of Houston via U.S. 59. Nine different flags have flown over the oldest town in Texas throughout its rich history, and this year’s festival

will pay special tribute to the Spanish flag. Platinum sponsors of the festival include Commercial Bank of Texas, Lumberjack Lofts / Legends at SFA, metroPCS, Mike Perry Motor Company and Walmart.
