National Tour of Fiddler on the Roof Coming to Crockett
CROCKETT— The national tour of the Tony award-winning musical, Fiddler on the Roof is coming to Crockett for ONE NIGHT AND ONE NIGHT ONLY!! This classic Broadway musical has captured the hearts of people all over the world with its universal appeal is coming to the Crockett Civic Center on March 6 at 7:30 p.m. Fiddler on the Roof has been lauded by critics again and again, and won the hearts of people all around the world. Filled with a rousing, heartwarming score, which includes “Tradition,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” “If I Were A Rich Man” and “Sunrise, Sunset,” Fiddler on the Roof is a timeless classic. No other musical has so magically woven music, dance, poignancy and laughter into such an electrifying and unforgettable experience. A smash-hit when it opened in 1964, it spawned four Broadway revivals, a successful 1971 film adaptation, and the show has enjoyed enduring international popularity ever since. Fiddler on the Roof was the winner of 9 Tony awards, including best musical, score, book, direction and choreography.
Fiddler on the Roof is based on the story Tevye and his Daughters by Sholem Aleichem. The story takes place in Czarist Russia in 1905 and revolves around the main character, Tevye and his five daughters as he struggles to maintain his Jewish and family traditions. Tevye must cope with his strong-willed daughters’ choice of husbands as well as the edict from the Czar that Jews be evicted from the village.
