“Puttin’ on the Ritz!” with Houston County Talent
Crockett — Piney Woods Fine Arts Association is presenting The Houston County Youth Talent Showcase sponsored by Coca-Cola of Crockett, May 18th at the Crockett Civic Center. This annual showcase event of some of the best and brightest talent from all over Houston County is in rehearsals and getting ready for a stellar performance! The theme of this year’s show is “Puttin’ on the Ritz!” and is dedicated to longtime Crockett resident and esteemed community member, Bill Schulman.
Mr. Schulman owned and operated the Ritz theater in Crockett. He passed away May 3, but left instructions the theater should stay open, even on the day of his service. He was a true showman and believed “the show must go on!” The Houston County Youth Talent showcase will have the all the glamour of old Hollywood with singing, dancing, music and a percussion act that has to be seen to be believed!
This professionally-produced showcase event has been presented by PWFAA for the youth of Houston County for 22 years and this year’s performance is sure to delight and entertain. Proceeds from the showcase will help support PWFAA’s school-time programming for the 2013-2014 school year. PWFAA’s Arts-in-Education panelists auditioned over 140 acts at area schools and selected the best and brightest stars! This year’s panelists are:

The show is Saturday May 18th, 7:30 pm at the Crockett Civic Center with the box office opening at 6:30 pm. General admission tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for 18 and under and can be purchased at the PWFAA office or at the box office the night of the show.
