Rally In The Crater- Attention bikers! The Rally In The Crater begins August, 4th and will last through August, 10th. The Durango Canyon Event Center is the premiere venue in the heart of the Pineywoods. Centrally located, Durango’s Canyon provides a great place for a party in East Texas.
This four-day rally is an all adult bike rally (no one under 21 years of age will be admitted.) There will be fun and games, along with concerts¸ featuring 10 bands on the big stage in the crater. There will also be a DJ on hand for non-stop music. This venue also offers golf cart and ATV trails, fish ponds, and free tent camping. Vendors will also present at the rally as well. The fun last from 8am-10pm each day!
There will be a bike show featuring awards in several categories. Categories include antiques, all class pre-1986, Sportsters, Harley Davidson, Full Dress Touring, Metric Touring, Trike and three-wheelers, production choppers, custom Harley Davidson. Bobbers, rats, metric sport bikes, and the best golf cart.
What’s the story behind the crater in Henderson, known as the Durango Canyon Event Center? No one really knows. Some say a giant meteor fell to earth thousands of years ago and left this natural crater. Others believe the crater could have been formed by the ancient Caddo Indians. Arrowheads and Indian artifacts have pushed their way to the surface over the years.
Today the crater is enjoyed by East Texans as well as other visitors.
RV Camping is also available at the Durango Canyon Event Center. Self-contained sites are $75, and do not include rally tickets. RV sites are 30/50 amp, with water, and most have sewer-$260 and include 2 rally tickets.VIP spots overlook sites are $500 and includes two rally tickets. These prime sites on the rim of the Crater overlook all the action below in the natural amphitheater.
A four-day pass is also available for $40.
Rusk County is under a burn ban–no open fires allowed at this time.
