Salmon Lake Park: A Great East Texas Swimming Hole- If you have been searching for a good swimming hole in East Texas you will find one tucked away in Grapeland. Salmon Lake Park has been helping East Texans chill out for years and continues to provide area residents with a place to swim, party, and host reunions.

Salmon Lake Park has been designed to make guests feel as if they have stepped back in time, to the days when life was lived a little slower. A collection of old restored buildings surrounding on the property provide a historic atmosphere, while the area around the lake is designed to accommodate swimmers.

The lake is arguably the best swimming hole in East Texas.If you don’t have a swimming pool or your own stock tank then Salmon Lake Park is a great place to cool off this summer.There are several piers, play areas and a diving/jumping platform. The area around the lake is covered by soft grass, which makes for an excellent place to throw out a towel and catch some sun.

Salmon Lake park offers cabins, RV hookups, and primitive camping for those who wish to stay awhile. There are plenty of cabins to choose from, which sleep as few as two or up to 11, and all are reasonably priced. There is also a 1,700 grass landing strip for anyone who wishes to fly in.

Numerous local reunions are also held at the park. The Crazy Horse Saloon hosts many local family reunions and is close to the water but there are several other buildings available  hold an annual get-together.

Birthday parties are also thrown in the park. The park has several pavilions that can be rented for a minimal fee. BBQ pits and picnic tables are available on site.

Salmon Lake Park opens daily at 9:00a.m. and closes around 8:00p.m. General admission to the park is $5 for persons 12-years-old and up, $3 for children 5 to 11 years of age, and children accompanied by an adult  4 and under are free. There is no lifeguard on duty and fishing is not permitted in the lake.
