Support Your Local Farmers In Athens
ATHENS-The Athens Farmer’s Market is a non profit organization that provides a local venue for fresh veggies, fruits, breads, & homemade crafted items. The market has been created & is run by Athens women with a passion for the community & a desire to keep the market alive!
The mission of the Athens Farmer’s Market is to provide children and adults in Athens and surrounding areas with locally-grown foods and farm products as well as locally handmade items. This will be accomplished by improving access to local, healthy, affordable food through a direct farm-to-consumer marketing venue that serves the diverse populations of our community. Other goals that the Athens Farmer’s Market strives to achieve are increased education and support of local area agriculture and artisans. The Athens Farmers Market believes that small, local farms and businesses are essential to the local economy, and is committed to making economic and educational connections between Athens area residents and its local farmers and artisans.
The Athens Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The market has everything from locally grown fresh peaches and other produce, honey, eggs, fresh baked breads, jewelry, and other things for the home and family.
New local farmers and artisans will also be featured at this week’s market. There will even be a Mothers Day craft for the kids.
This week’s local music act is Kyle Lane.
Drinks at the Athens Farmer’s Market are part of a fundraiser sponsoring Dogs Against Drugs.
You can find us each Saturday one block northeast of downtown Athens on North Palestine St. Look for the 1929 Ford Huxter and even take your picture with it!
