Palestine, Texas – The world-famous Philip Beesley Hylozoic Series exhibit will open on November 21, 2014, in Palestine, Texas. This exhibit, as seen on CBC News, is part of the world-famous Beesley Hylozoic Ground exhibit series that is an international sensation in such countries as Italy, Canada, France, Spain, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, China, and Korea. This will be the only U.S. location for the exhibit series outside the Leonardo Center for Exploration in Salt Lake City, Utah, the original U.S. location.
This highly-acclaimed exhibit, designed by Canadian Philip Beesley, explores responsive architecture. The materials and components in the structure create an organic and living environment where plant-like components sense visitors’ presence and then respond with movement. Special vessels produce chemical layers in response to the exhibit’s activities. With his collaborative team of engineers, computer programmers, chemists, artists, and social scientists, Beesley has created an exhibit that brings the future of architecture and technology to life.
Spectators will have the opportunity to learn more about this process through the videos and knowledgeable staff on hand.
The Hylozoic Series Exhibit can be seen in the Palestine Mall, 2000 South Loop 256 in Palestine, next to the Palestine Public Library. Hours are Thursday through Sunday of each week from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Additional times for group tours are available by appointment. School tours also are available that integrate the immersive exhibit experience with fun, standards-based classroom activities that have been fully field-tested. For reservations or questions, email [email protected] .
