Casting Calls for “Willy Wonka” at the Texas
Palestine- This summer Director John Lamb will bring magic to the Texas with Roald Dahl’s “Willy Wonka!” The Palestine Community Theatre (PCT) group invites you to be a part of this production at one of the oldest and most beautiful theatres in East Texas. Dahl’s classic tale of a poor boy who wins the opportunity to tour the most eccentric and wonderful candy factory of all will soon come to life at the Texas in Historic Downtown Palestine!
Auditions will be held Saturday, May 19 at 10:00 a.m. and Sunday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. (For those who missed Saturday’s auditions and CALL BACKS). Children (ages six and above) will be taught a song from the show to sing during auditions. Youth and adults (13-93) should come with a song to sing. It would be best if the song were not country or church music, as those have a different sound from show tunes. If necessary, we can teach you a song from the show to sing as well. Everyone will be asked to sing at auditions, even if you think you can’t. There will also be stage movement and readings at auditions.
The Texas is a fun and safe place to spend the summer. We are so excited about “Willy Wonka!” We hope you will come out and join us for a summer of magic and memories at the Historic Texas Theatre.
