Dangerfield State Park, in Morris County southwest of Texarkana, is a 506.913-acre recreational area, including an 80-surface-acre lake. The area was the center of the iron industry in Texas, and original improvements were made by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC).
Springtime in the park brings amazing sights throughout the park’s rolling hills as the dogwoods, redbuds, and wisteria vines bloom. Fall gives way to amazing beauty as well as the sweetgum, oak, and maple tress produce splendid colors among the pines. Wildlife observation and photography opportunities are prime at Dangerfield State Park. White-tailed deer, tame ducks and geese, armadillos, raccoons, and squirrels call the park home and the lake is full of crappie, perch, catfish, bass, and chain pickerel.
Dangerfield State Park offers picnicking, camping, boating (5 MPH speed limit), fishing, swimming, hiking, and nature study. March through October a seasonal concession rents pedal boats and canoes for those who wish to get on the water. Tours can be arranged by special request.
Park facilities include restrooms with and without showers; picnic sites including a group picnic area with tables (not covered); campsites with water; campsites with water and electricity; campsites with water, electricity, and sewer; a group lodge (Bass Lodge – capacity 20 persons: five bedrooms and two baths)(weekend reservation for Friday or Saturday requires reserving both nights); an overflow camping area; an amphitheater on the lake side; a launching ramp; a boat dock; a fishing pier; and a fish-cleaning facility; 2 1/2 miles of hiking trails; a playground with slides and swings; cabins with heating and air-conditioning, and kitchen facilities (linens and towels are furnished; but utensils, dishes, and silverware are not);

Schedule- Open: 7 days a week year-round. Busy season: March (school break) through Thanksgiving.
Directions: The park is located east of Daingerfield on State Highway (Hwy) 49 for two miles to Park Road 17 entrance. From Dallas/Ft Worth take Interstate 30 (I-30) East to Mt. Pleasant and take Exit #160; follow State Hwy. 49 to Daingerfield State Park (about 22 miles from I-30). From Longview, take State Hwy. 259 to Daingerfield; turn right on State Hwy 11 and State Hwy. 49. From Texarkana take I-30 West, exit on Hwy. 259 South to Daingerfield, Turn left on Hwy. 49 .

Camping
Maximum 8 people per campsite unless otherwise noted. Applicable daily entrance fees are charged in addition to the campsite or facility fee.
30 – Campsites with electric & water hook-ups- $12 per night.
10 – Campsites with sewer, electric & water hook-ups- $18 per night.
Overflow Camping Area- $8 per night.
Lodging
Tents are not allowed in the cabin area. Check-in is 3pm Check-out is 11am
2 – 4 person cabins. These cabins have two bedrooms (with one double bed in each room), one bathroom, kitchen with two burner stovetop, refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave, and A/C & heat. No oven or fireplace. One of these cabins is considered ADA accessible- $75 per night.
1 – 6 person cabin. This cabin has three bedrooms (with one double bed in each room), a fireplace, one bathroom, kitchen with two burner stovetop, refrigerator, coffee pot, & microwave, and has A/C & heat. No oven- $85 per night.
1 – Group Lodge with Kitchen (Capacity 20).The Bass Lodge has five bedrooms with two sets of bunk beds (sleeps four) per room, two baths, living room, kitchen, wood burning fireplace, A/C, and heat- $225 per day
Day Use Facilities
Group Picnic Pavilion (capacity 30). Facility is non-reservable.
Amphitheater (capacity 40). Amphitheater has wooden benches and electricity outlets; water and restrooms nearby. Contact the park for information.
