Dog Agility Trials In Lufkin

Lufkin– The Fast Lane Agility Group of the East Texas Working Dog Association is holding an agility trial at the George H. Henderson Jr. Expo Center Pavilion in Lufkin, November 19 -20.

Agility is a dog sport in which a handler and dog team work together, as the dog executes a series of obstacles such as jumps, tunnels, weave poles, see-saws, dog walks and A- frames. All types and sizes of dogs compete in this sport. Dog agility is a sport that has exploded in popularity since the late 1970s.

The agility trial is free for the public to watch and begins at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, continuing through mid-afternoon. Bleachers will be set up for seating and concessions will be available.  Information on agility and agility lessons will also be available for those who are interested. Register to win a free beginners agility seven-week course. Parking is on the zoo side of the Expo Center.

A Show-n-Go will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 18, as a “practice session” for agility- trained dogs.
