Apex Entertainment Presents the Tony Award Winning Musical: RENT
TYLER- On December 6th and 7th at 7:30 PM, APEX Entertainment Presents: Rent at Liberty Hall sponsored by Kyser Musical Products. The limited engagement directed by Robert E. Lee’s Director of Theatre Michael Ward, sets to touch the hearts of East Texas through a cast of 20 and a four piece band.
Written by Jonathan Larsen, Rent tells the story of a group of bohemian artists, many of whom live with AIDS, struggle to maintain their friendships and their non-conformist ideals in New York’s East Village. The rock opera has won many awards including the Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize Award.
“Rent is the story of the pain and trials a generation suffered in our life time. It is a story of dealing with abandonment, and coping with loss. Something I believe every generation has to face no matter the tragedy,” says APEX Entertainment Executive Producer Chris Abraham.
Theatre 20 at Potter Place is home for APEX Entertainment a new theatre company located at 719 W. Front Street, who is taking on productions which set them apart from the normal works of community theatre in East Texas.
“We want to produce plays and musicals the Tyler audience has never seen live in East Texas before,” says Abraham.
Last August, APEX produced a preview run of Rent. Directed by Ward, the sold out run had great reviews and had so much success APEX was able to take their production of Rent to the City of Tyler’s Liberty Hall Theatre. This time the cast is bigger, the stage is larger and the passion for this work of art is growing by the day.
“This cast is about passion and they have it in their hearts to tell a story. Being able to directRent in Tyler for the first time is something I’ve always wanted to do. Now being able to direct Rent on a larger scale in Tyler at Liberty Hall is an amazing opportunity. This play is the anthem of a generation and one of the best ever to hit Broadway,” says Ward.
