Valerie is an East Texas character! She is a mother, a student and an incredible steward of all things in nature. One thing you learn quickly about Valerie is that she is completely obsessed with gardening — not in the “its spring so let’s hang some potted plants” kind of way, but more like in the “Honey, I just bought 177 iris bulbs, and a pick-up truck load of compost for the flowerbed in front of the house” kind of way. The personal 12’x24’ greenhouse might also be an indicator.
As an intern in the Anderson County Texas Master Gardener’s club, which is a part of the AgriLIFE Extension office, Valerie has finished her formal classwork, and is currently accumulating the volunteer hours needed to become a full-fledged Master Gardener. As a part of that volunteering program, some of the Master Gardeners answer phone calls and help answer questions posed to the East Texas AgriLIFE Extension office, as well as provide assistance and training throughout the community.
Valerie has decided to write a blog on MYETX.com to educate the community, and answer questions in hopes of increasing the availability of horticulture information to a wider audience, and in an interesting and interactive way by utilizing an open forum.
