Start the holiday season off right with a couple of Christmas shows to get you in the spirit; Piney Woods Fine Arts Association has two Christmas shows coming to help you spread the holiday cheer. The classic Christmas tale from Victorian England, Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol on Dec. 4th and back by popular demand, Shoji Tabuchi Christmas on Dec. 13th; are both coming to the Crockett Civic Center. A powerful story of redemption, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, has enchanted audiences the world over with its simple message of selfless giving. Ebenezer Scrooge, a most unrepentant, miserly fellow, is made to see the light as he survives a merciless battery of revelations by the ghosts of his own Christmases: Past, Present, and Future.
This new adaptation of Dickens’ ever popular classic fills the stage with veteran Broadway actors, lush costumes, stunning sets, music, dance, and a timeless message. With beloved traditional carols of the season included, A Christmas Carol is an enchanting way to begin the holiday festivities in your community. And……..Back by popular demand, Shoji Tabuchi Christmas returns to Crockett!!
Shoji broke all the box-office records when he performed in Crockett two years ago, so this show is definitely one you don’t want to miss. Shoji has been the hottest act in Branson since opening his own theatre there in 1989. His Christmas show has all the glitz, glamour of a Vegas-style show combined with the song and dance of Broadway!
Arriving in America in the mid-1960’s with only $500 in his pocket, Shoji set out to pursue his dream of playing country music. He started in San Francisco, then moved to the Midwest for a time, all the while playing country music and touring. He made it to Branson in 1980 and started playing regularly on the strip, finally opening his own 2000 seat theatre in 1989. Since then his show has attracted thousands of people to Branson, making it one of the most popular Branson destinations.
With a showman’s charm Shoji combines country, bluegrass, big band, Cajun, Broadway/movie tunes, pop, jazz, swing and classical. His daughter Christina will also join him onstage for dance numbers and duets. He was nominated two years in a row for “Instrumentalist of the Year” for TNN/Music City News Country Awards. This nomination is most significant because fans participate in the voting and placed him among nationally known artists and all-time country greats. He was also named “Instrumentalist of the Year” four years in a row, and Entertainer of the Year by the Ozark Music Awards.
