Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens Exhibit Opening
NACOGDOCHES- The City of Nacogdoches Historic Sites Department is excited to announce the Exhibit Grand Opening at the Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens. The Grand Opening will be held Thursday, October 17th from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens, 304 North Street.
This new, permanent exhibit was designed by Pony Allen of Pony Allen Designs in Austin, Texas and Exhibit Concepts, Inc. of Vandalia, Ohio and installed in September 2013. The new exhibit covers the 11 different owners of the Durst-Taylor House, the archeology done on the property and life in early Nacogdoches. There are several interactive elements to this new exhibit that include QR (quick response) codes for smart phones and flip books with additional educational information.
We will have a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. followed by light refreshments and live string music by the Attoyac Valley String Ensemble. We invite everyone to come out and celebrate our new exhibit.
The Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. For additional information concerning the event, please contact the Jessica Sowell at 936-560-4441 or email [email protected].
