East Texas Comedy Festival
TYLER – Side Splitting, laugh until you cry comedy is coming to East Texas! June 15 and 16, the City of Tyler and Liberty Hall will host the first annual East Texas Comedy Festival. The two night event, starting at 8 p.m. each night, will feature stand-up comedy on Friday night and improvisational comedy on Saturday night at Liberty Hall in Downtown Tyler.
Populated with comedians selected by a panel of judges, the two-night event will feature both stand-up and improvisational comedy. The Friday night portion will feature the 10 to 12 selected stand-up comedians who will have five minutes each, competing for the title of “East Texas’ Funniest Comic.” The winner will be given the opportunity to perform a full set the following evening.
Each contestant will have five minutes to win the crowd over. At the end of the night, the audience will vote to determine who will receive the title of East Texas’s funniest comic. The winner will return, as champion, on Saturday night to perform a 10-minute set.
Additionally, the event will feature performances by improv group Card 53, of Tyler, and Willis and Fitzroy from Dallas. Willis and Fitzroy is considered by many the funniest improvisers in Texas.
Tickets are $20 for one night or $30 for both nights. A box seat for up to four people can be reserved for $160. For more information about the event or the workshops, call 903-595-7274, or visit libertytyler.com.
