Ghost of a Chance Live at the Historic Texas Theatre

PALESTINE- The final two weekends of the 76th Annual Dogwood Trails Celebration tourists and locals will have the opportunity to see a show at the Historic Texas Theatre.  This Friday, Palestine Community Theatre (PCT) will open the doors and the curtains for “Ghost of a Chance.”

PCT’s latest production is a weighty comedy with interesting character twists and ponderous ideas about life and death. “Ghost of a Chance” is a touching, funny story of love and redemption, and will deliver giggles, guffaws and wispy tears all in the same evening at the Texas Theatre.

Recently engaged couple Bethany (Olivia Santone) and Floyd (Glenn Barnhart) are accompanied by Vera (Carol moore), Floyd’s mother, to a small hunting cabin in the middle of nowhere. The cabin was the retreat of Bethany’s deceased husband, Chance (Gerry Goodwin), and she has returned for the first time since his death three years ago to finalize its sale to a new owner.

The small catch is that Chance hasn’t left the premises, and as things move along it becomes apparent he has no intention of giving up either the cabin or his former wife. Crystal (Dr. Jan Sikes), a free-spirited psychic with problems of her own is brought in to mediate between the living and the dead. Basic, uninterrupted confusion and hilarity ensue.

When Adam (John Lamb) the mysterious new owner of the cabin arrives, Chance recognizes him and skeletons come tumbling out of the closet.

“Ghost of a Chance” is a sturdy reflection of life in general — mostly confusing and sometimes heartbreaking. But finding the humor in life’s trials and tribulations keeps you sane, and best of all, love and redemption are always there for the taking.

“Ghost of a Chance” opens at the Historic Texas Theatre on Friday, March 28 at 7:30p.m. Before the show patrons will be treated to a complimentary wine and cheese reception at 6:30p.m. This show will run two weekends: March 28, 29, 30 and April 4, 5, and 6. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30p.m, and Sundays at 2p.m.

Tickets are $8 students (ages 4-18) and $12 for adults. Tickets can be purchased locally at the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce, Dogwood Diner, Switch, Sears, Education Unlimited and Discount Pools. Tickets can also be purchased online at
