The Queen City of the Sand Flats will be a picker’s paradise beginning Thursday, August 30, through September 2 Salmon Lake Park will be hosting its 36thAnnual Labor Day Weekend Bluegrass Festival and Main Street will be transformed into a garage sale avenue. So whether you are looking for some bluegrass music this Labor Day weekend or a chance to haul off some treasures, Grapeland is where the pickers will be.

Every year some of the biggest names in Bluegrass music play at Salmon Lake Park. This year’s festival, will feature the Marksmen, Tin Top Road, Bill Grant, Gray Fox, The Larry Stephenson Band, The Gary Waldrep Band, The Shady Grove Ramblers, Salt Grass, David Davis, The Tennessee Gentleman, and Highway 19, just to name a few.

Beginning Thursday, continuous music will fill the air in Grapeland. Everyone is invited and encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy music, arts, crafts, and fellowship.

A church service will be held on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon, with gospel music by The Marksmen and a message brought by Mark Wheeler. This year a Sunday afternoon show has been added back to the schedule.

36th Annual Bluegrass Festival Schedule

If you are worried about the heat this weekend, Salmon Lake Park has one of the best swimming holes in East Texas for you to cool off in. Take a dip in the lake or get some sun on one of the piers.

Salmon Lake Park features an Old-West- style village that has been carefully crafted, by owner Floyd Salmon, from refurbished old buildings from the around the Grapeland area. Stay the night in one of the Salmon’s cabins or bring your RV for the weekend.

Salmon Lake Park opens daily at 9:00 a.m. and closes around 8:00 p.m. A four-day pass to this year’s Bluegrass Festival is $55. Thursday admission is $15. Friday’s admission is $20. Saturday’s admission is $20. Sunday’s admission is $10. Children under 15 will be allowed in for free with a parent or guardian. Music starts at 7 p.m. on Thursday, 1 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday, and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Electric Hookups for campers are available for $15 and $17.

Drugs and Alcohol are not permitted at this event. All pets must be on a leash at all times and are not allowed in the seating or vending areas.
