Homemade Lime Sherbet

Homemade Lime Sherbet

Want to try your hand at homemade ice cream this summer? Treat your tastebuds to something out of the ordinary but keep the nostalgia you long for by making homemade lime sherbet!

Ingredients-

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 pkg. lime jello

5 cups of 2% milk

5 cups of Sprite

4 limes

1 bag of ice

1 box of Morton rock salt

Preparation-

Combine sweetened condensed milk, lime jello, milk and Sprite in mix thoroughly until blended. Next, squeeze lime juice into mixture and stir well. (Keep the remains of one lime to use as garnish).

Next simply pour the mixture into the ice cream freezer container. Place the lid on the canister and place it into the ice cream machine bucket. Then fill the bucket with ice about half way. Make sure the ice is covering as much of the canister as possible and then pour in rock salt. After you have distributed rock salt, fill the rest of the way with ice. Then pour rock salt over the ice again. Mount the motor onto the ice cream bucket and let it work for approximately 30 minutes! (When ice gets low, refill and reapply rock salt.)

After about 30 minutes your lime sherbet should be ready. If the consistency is not quite as hard as you would like simply continue reapplying ice and rock salt or just stick the canister in the freezer for about 20 minutes.

Now, scoop out the lime sherbet and garnish with a small lime peel and serve!

*Makes about 10 servings
