Mardi Gras Up River
JEFFERSON- Last Saturday our team traveled to Jefferson to take part in their Mardi Gras Celebration. The weather was not particularly enjoyable, but the New Orleans vibe was pumping. Historic Downtown Jefferson was throbbing with excitement that the rain could not dampen!
Mardi Gras Up River kicked off with a spectacular parade, which featured a variety of floats. Parade-goers packed into Downtown and lined the streets to collected beads.
Vendors from all over east Texas and beyond lined the brick streets. Shoppers enjoyed a wide variety from unique art to area wine. Our favorite vendors at Mardi Gras in Jefferson include:
Paradise Winery
Riverbottom Woodworks
Shotgun Tattoos & Body Piercing
Every fair and carnival food imaginable was available at Mardi Gras in Jefferson.
When the rain finally bested our team on the streets in Jefferson we hit the Corkyard for refuge. The Corkyard had canopies for guests to gather under and let the good times roll, live music pulsed in the air, and the smell of cajun cooking was mighty inviting.
The smell of hot and spicy crawfish may have been what drew us into The Corkyard, but the bloody mary’s are what really hit the spot!
Despite a little rain, festivities were a success. Mardi Gras Upriver is an ETX must!
