Palestine to Celebrate Twelve Days of Christmas in July

Palestine – The City of Palestine will celebrate Christmas a little early this year.  The City will celebrate its 1st Christmas in July event, July 18-29.  The Christmas in July celebration will be twelve days of food, shopping, fun and holiday preparations.

The festivities will kick off with two celebrity design experts from Dallas and Houston. Stephen Dankesreiter, Creative Director of Polly Dupont, and Melissa Snow, Melissa Snow Designs, will share their holiday trends for 2013 on Thursday, July 18.

Polly DuPont was named the Best Tabletop and Kitchen Accessories store in the September/October 2012 issue of D Magazine. The Dallas-based store has been in business since 1946 and carries more than 400 patterns of formal and fine china.

During the twelve days, a variety of activities and entertainment will be available including holiday shopping on Palestine Main Street, “Women who Wine for Holiday Food & Wine” at Red Fire Grille and a “Hawaiian Christmas” for children at O’Sweet Pea.

“Main Street focuses on our history and traditions, but we keep an eye on the future. With that in mind, we have partnered with local artists to create a Pop-Up Art Gallery on West Oak. This gallery will be open July 26-28 only and will feature work from local and regional artists, in a mix of mediums and styles,” said Laura Westgate, Main Street manager.

Santa will arrive for his summer daycation at Splash Park on Sunday, July 28 and the City of Palestine will unveil the 2013 holiday schedule on Monday, July 29 on the historic, courthouse square. “We are excited to unveil our 2013 holiday theme and schedule in July,” stated Breezy Lake-Wolfe, Marketing Manager for the City of Palestine.  “Visiting Palestine with the family is special any time of the year, but without a doubt the weeks between Thanksgiving and New Years are magical.”

Other events during the “The Twelve Days of Christmas in July” will include the Piney Woods Steam Excursion at The Texas State Railroad, Annie live at the Texas Theatre and the Harvest Fest & Grape Stomp at Sabor a Pasion.
