PCT Presents “Christmas Gifts” at the Historic Texas Theatre
PALESTINE- This holiday season, Palestine Community Theatre will present the heart-warming story of “Christmas Gifts” written and directed by Palestine native Jamie Waldon King in a one weekend only performance Dec. 13-15, sponsored by Mary Alice Largent of Century 21. “Christmas Gifts” is the story of five couples with five different Christmas wishes.
Hannah is a stay at home mom working hard to take care of her family while her husband Michael is deployed. Hannah and the kids are counting down the days until Michael can come home for Christmas. Meanwhile, Michael and Hannah’s 17 year old daughter Mary is expecting a baby and hasn’t told the father Jeb, who is away at college. At a loss, Mary turns to her pastor, Adam, to discuss the possibility of adoption.
Sarah and John have been trying desperately to have a baby, and are shocked when Adam discloses that a young girl wants them to adopt her baby. They want to conceive a child of their own, but begin entertaining the idea of adoption. Jeb, though, has other ideas.
Hannah’s sister Elizabeth comes home for a brief visit from New York, where she lives as an aspiring actress. No sooner does she arrive home, though, than she bumps into Sam, a hometown boy she met the previous Christmas at the Wilson’s annual party. Sam was taken with Elizabeth then, but couldn’t seem to let Elizabeth have his heart. Little did he know that Elizabeth had no interest in a relationship.
David and Rachel have been married for years, but as David’s career has advanced, he has become more and more distant. Rachel makes every effort to persuade him to spend more time with her and their son Peter, but is continually disappointed by his lack of attention.
Will Michael make it home for Christmas? Will Mary convince Jeb that adoption is the best way to give their baby a brighter future? Will Sarah and John finally have a child to love? Will a romance bloom for Sam and Elizabeth? Can Rachel convince David that family is more important than wealth?
Celebrate Christmas this year with a dose of life, laughter, and love at the Historic Texas Theatre in Downtown Palestine. The Opening Night Gala begins at 6:30p.m., on Friday, December 13, with a complimentary wine and cheese reception. The curtain will open at 7:30p.m.
Saturday’s performance begins at 7:30p.m., and the final performance will begin at 2p.m. on Sunday.
