Piney Woods Fine Arts Association New Season Memberships Go On Sale Friday

Crockett- Piney Woods Fine Arts Association Season Memberships go on sale THIS FRIDAY, AUGUST 3! This season’s outstanding events include: The Piney Woods Polka Fest! with BRAVE COMBO Saturday, October 6; The Kremlin Chamber Orchestra Thursday, October 18; Travis Tritt Saturday, January 26; An evening with Cornell Gunter’s Coasters, Bobby Hendricks’ Drifters, and The Platters Saturday, February 16; Fiddler on the Roof Wednesday, March 6; Humorist Jeanne Robertson Saturday, March 23.

For Season 22, you have the option of purchasing the six “Signature Series” performances and an additional two Special Events. Tickets for the six performances in the “Signature Series” are $165, $140 and $115.

This season, the two additional Special Events are Clint Black (tickets start at $40) Saturday, September 15 and the Shoji Tabuchi’s Christmas Show (tickets start at $30) Friday, December 14.

Saturday, October 6 – Piney Woods Polka Fest!  with BRAVE COMBO – Houston County Airport  7:30 PM – POLKA! POLKA! POLKA! With 5 Grammy nominations and 3 wins, Brave Combo is not your average Polka Band. Brave Combo is a polka/rock band that has been a prominent fixture in the Texas music scene for more than twenty-five years. Their music, both originals and covers, incorporates a number of dance styles, mostly polka, but also rumba, cha-cha-cha, choro, samba, two-step, cumbia, charanga, merengue, etc.  While their records may have a sense of humor, they are played straight and not usually considered joke or novelty records. Come on out to the show; learn to Polka dance, enjoy the Beer Garden and authentic German food. Tickets: General Admission $20 advance, $25 door; German food & drink available for sale.

Thursday, October 18 – Kremlin Chamber Orchestra – Saint Luke’s Baptist Church 7:30 PM   – “Uncanny musicality, precision and verve … the sheer amount and velvety warmth of sound was thrilling,” says the San Francisco Classical Voice about Kremlin Chamber Orchestra. Led by founder and music director Misha Rachlevsky, this dynamic ensemble is composed of some of Russia’s finest string players who have helped the orchestra earn international recognition as one of Russia’s leading ensembles.     “Misha Rachlevsky … elicited warm, full-blooded and virtuosic playing with colorfully shaped, gleaming phrases,” said The New York Times

After the intermission, Rachlevsky will poll the audience and let the majority select the music for the second half of the program. Tickets: General Admission $20 advance $25 door.

Saturday, January 26 – Travis Tritt – Crockett Civic Center 7:30 PMOver the course of his career, Travis Tritt, has delighted fans and disarmed critics by exploring his deep love of hard-core country, flashing an ability and affinity for bluegrass, revealing unexpected sensitivity as a balladeer, winning respect as a formidable songwriter and, most emphatically, drawing widespread recognition as one of the finest vocalists the genre has ever known. A two-time Grammy winner, singer/songwriter Tritt has sold 25 million albums and performed for standing-room-only crowds coast to coast. Tickets: $45-A seating, $40-B seating, $35-C seating.

Saturday, February 16 – An Evening with Cornell Gunter’s Coasters, Bobby Hendricks’ Drifters, and The Platters – Crockett Civic Center 7:30 PM –  It’s an evening filled with the classic sounds of the 50’s and 60’s.  The Coasters perform their string of hits including “Yakety Yak”, “Sweet Georgia Brown” and “Poison Ivy”. The Platters continue with “Only You”, “The Great Pretender”, and “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes”.  And don’t miss original Drifters’ hits like “Under the Boardwalk”, “This Magic Moment”, and “Up on the Roof”.  It‘s everybody’s favorite good-time concert of the year!  Tickets: $40-A seating, $35-B seating, $30-C seating.

Wednesday, March 6 – Fiddler on the Roof – Crockett Civic Center 7:30 PM – FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, the Tony Award winning musical that has captured the hearts of people all over the world with its universal appeal embarks on its North American Tour. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF has been lauded by critics again and again, and won the hearts of people all around the world. Filled with a rousing, heartwarming score, which includes “Tradition,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” “If I Were A Rich Man” and “Sunrise, Sunset,” FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is a timeless classic. Saturday,  March 23 Jeanne Robertson – Crockett Civic Center 7:30 PM – Award-winning speaker Jeanne Robertson is an expert in humor, whether regaling audiences with her experiences as a 6’2″ Miss Congeniality winner in the Miss America Pageant or outlining the steps to developing a sense of humor. Jeanne is past president of the National Speakers Association and was the first woman to win NSA’s top honor, the Cavett Award.  Author of three books on humor, Jeanne can be heard daily on Sirius XM Radio’s Laugh USA and the Family Comedy Channel, this lets millions nationwide know she speaks two languages fluently: English . . . and Southern.  Tickets: $30-A seating, $25-B seating, $20-C seating.

Saturday,  September 15 – Clint Black – Crockett Civic Center 7:30 PM  – This prolific singer-songwriter has transcended genres to become not only one of country music’s brightest stars, but also one of the most successful artists in the music industry. He has written, recorded, and released more than 100 songs, with more than 20 million albums being sold worldwide. His debut album, the Triple Platinum Killin’ Time, boasted five No. 1 hits and won a trove of awards, including Country Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year, American Music Awards Favorite New Male Country Artist, Academy of Country Music Best New Male Vocalist, Academy of Country Music Album of the Year, and Academy of Country Music Single of the Year. Friday, December 14 – Shoji Tabuchi’s Christmas Show – Crockett Civic Center 7:30 PM – Tabuchi has never produced a recording on a major label, but the Japanese-born fiddler ranks among the most popular musicians in the United States.  Experience Christmas with Shoji Tabuchi, his beautiful wife, Dorothy and delightful daughter, Christina. The family that plays, sings, and dances encompasses all the wholesome values of truly great family entertainment; yet the show rivals the pure excitement of Las Vegas or New York.  Tickets: $40-A seating, $35-B seating, $30-C seating.
