Purtis Creek Trail
Eustace, TX.
This shaded trail loops through the woods in an area used for primitive camping. Purtis Creek State Park is known specifically for its superb fishing. The waters are stocked with largemouth bass (catch and release), catfish, and crappie. The lake has speed limits and permits, only 50 boats on the water at a time, resulting in a quiet, mellow atmosphere. The park was acquired in 1977 and opened to the public in 1988. It includes a 355-acre lake with a swimming area, fishing pier, boat ramp, and bait shop. Canoe and kayak rentals are also available in the park.
