Red Dreams & Rice
Recipe by Chef Lulu Dyess / Fork In The Road
PALESTINE- Chef Lulu Dyess stepped off her food truck into Historic Downtown Palestine over the weekend where she gave East Texans a “Taste of New Orleans” to go with the Third Annual Mardi Gras Celebration. Dyess, owner of Fork In the Road East Texas’ first mobile food truck- gave area residents a cooking demonstration last Saturday afternoon.
Local chefs and wineries teamed up before the Mardi gras celebration to offer locals a “Taste of New Orleans” in Palestine. Each chef gave a cooking demonstration. Normally, Dyess serves sensational tacos from her truck, but for Mardi Gras Dyess prepared “Red Dreams & Rice,” which was served with East Texas made wines from Sweet Dreams Winery. This explosive combination proved to be a mouthwatering sensation when Fork In The Road and Sweet Dreams wines met in Downtown Palestine.
Although Dyess has already given a demonstration of how to prepare this amazing deep south dish, she is sharing the recipe so everyone can enjoy “Red Dreams and Rice!” This is a great crock pot recipe. Now all you have to do is pick up a bottle of Sweet Dreams wine on the way home from work and dinner is served!
