“Seussical the Musical” Opens this Weekend at Palestine High School

Palestine- The Palestine High School Ovation Theatre Company will present their first show of the school year “Seussical” the musical Friday and Saturday October 12th and 13th, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday October 14th, at 2:00 p.m. in Auditorium of the recently completed new High School Building. Tickets to the performances can be reserved by emailing [email protected] or calling the theatre office at 903-731-8005 ext. 2160.

The Ovation Theatre Company is excited to be bringing this musical to Palestine audiences in the new Auditorium.

“There are a lot of things that we can do now with lighting and staging that we were never able to do before”, stated PHS Theatre Director Eric J. Cates.

According to Cates, in the new Auditorium you will see enhanced lighting and some really cool things on stage with trees that fly in from the above the actors, as well as, better sound quality.

The story of “Seussical” is taken from the works of Dr. Seuss and features many of his most memorable characters including, The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, The Whos, The Wickersham Brothers, Mayzie La Bird, and many others. The cast of “Seussical” features many Ovation Theatre veterans, including, Adam Hobbs as the Cat, Greg Albright as Horton, Roxanne Davis as Gertrude, Amy Witt as Mayzie, Haley Cook as Sour Kangaroo. Also in the cast from the High School are Kyle Hayes, Justin Hayes, Jonah Ellison, Wyatt Marshall, Gabbi Dantin, Callie Flynn, Corie Ann Mason, Penny Fulgham and Jordan Hobbs. Also in the cast are Caitlyn Morrow, Annie Arambula, Sarah Ellison, Martha Garcia-Castillo, Abby Earle, Sarah Singletary, Amber Magee, Christina Campos, Alexia Estrada and Destiny Swaim.

“Suessical” the musical also features two students from Story Intermediate School. Gage Concilio, a 4th grader at Story Intermediate plays the role of JoJo, a young boy whose “Thinks” bring everything to life in the story. Story 5th grader Emma Bennett plays the young Kangaroo, who with her mother the Sour Kangaroo are the nemesis of the shows major character Horton the Elephant.

The Ovation Theatre Company invites you to come out and enjoy an evening filled with childhood memories and enjoy a trip to the world of Dr. Seuss. We hope to see you in Solla Sollew.
