Shop Nac First This Small Business Saturday and Wassail Fest

Nacogdoches, Texas- Merchants of historic downtown Nacogdoches are gearing up to participate in “Small Business Saturday,” this coming Saturday, November 29thth.

But why celebrate and visit Small Businesses? First there was Black Friday, then Cyber Monday. This year, November 29th is the fifth annual Small Business Saturday, a day to support the local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods around the country. Downtown Nacogdoches merchants have gotten creative and are using their online marketing tools to bring attention to the event as well. “Thanks to our friends at the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce we have distributed 13 $25 American Express gift cards that select participating merchants will be distributing on Saturday,” said Main Street Manager Sarah O’Brien. Merchants will use a variety of ways to distribute the cards including door prizes, balloon drops, and much more.

“We are thrilled with the national attention ‘Small Business Saturday’ is gaining,” said Main Street Manager Sarah O’Brien, “What better way to join the movement and show your support for the Nacogdoches economy than by supporting our local small businesses.” Historic Downtown Nacogdoches will come alive this Saturday with the annual Holiday favorite Wassail Fest, sponsored by Citizens 1st Bank. Merchants will be vying for the Wassail Trophy by brewing up their own versions of the holiday apple cider.

“Without a doubt, I can’t imagine a better celebration of Small Business Saturday, anywhere in the country, than right here in downtown Nacogdoches during Wassail Fest,” said O’Brien. This year the following merchants will be participating in Wassail Fest: Brick Street Antiques & Collectibles, House of Traditions, CASA’s Blue Ribbon Gift Shop, Dollheads, Glass Castles, G. Patterson Photographic Studio & Gallery, Heart of Texas, Macy May, Olde Town General Store, Rachel’s Antiques & Uniques, The French Knot Quilt Shop, The Liberty Bell, Rees Jewelry, and the Clardy Law Offices. In addition to all the wassail and gift cards being distributed, anyone who makes a purchase from our downtown merchants will receive a coupon for 15% off their food purchase at the Liberty Bell, located at 422 E. Main Street. Customers must simply bring in their receipt from Saturday, November 29th to take advantage of the discount. Downtown merchants will also all be open normal hours on Black Friday. Can’t make it to Wassail Fest? Avoid the long lines and rushes of typical Black Friday shopping and come hit the brick streets and get an early start on Small Business Saturday.
