Texas Travel and Tourism Week
Celebrate Texas Travel and Tourism Week May 3 – 11!
TEXAS- The first, full week of May is annually recognized as National Travel and Tourism Week. In recognition of Texas’ dynamic travel and tourism industry and its important contributions to the state economy, Gov. Rick Perry designated May 4-12 as Texas Travel and Tourism Week.
Texas continues to be a premier destination for domestic and international travelers, and tourism is one of the state’s largest and most essential industries. According to the Texas Tourism website, “Travel spending in Texas totaled an estimated $65 billion in 2012, an increase of 6% over 2011 and the highest level of travel spending recorded to date. This directly supported 564,000 jobs across several industries, including leisure and hospitality, transportation, retail trade, services, finance, real estate, construction and insurance, and generated nearly $4.4 billion in local and state taxes.” Read More Here.
