Ogre-Size Fun Is Coming To Palestine
Shrek the Musical Set To Open July 24 at the Historic Texas Theatre
Palestine, Texas- Everyone’s favorite upside-down fairytale is coming to the Historic Texas Theatre! Palestine Community Theatre (PCT) presents the Broadway smash hit, Shrek The Musical, a song-and dance-filled stage adaptation of the Oscar-winning DreamWorks animated film. Shrek The Musical opens at the Texas on Thursday, July 24 and will run for two long weekends.
Director Chaundra Dantin, who also plays the role of Fiona, has recreated the fantasy Kingdom of Far Far Away in Downtown Palestine, with many hilarious twists. Instead of a knight in shining armor riding a noble steed, the hero is a swamp-dwelling ogre by the name of Shrek, played by Doug Smith, who has teamed up with a chatterbox donkey, played by Larry Weber. The unlikely duo is on a mission from Lord Farquaad, played by James Hampton, to save Princess Fiona from the dragon-guarded tower. In the end Shrek and Donkey must rescue Fiona from marrying Farquaad, so that she can be with her true love, Shrek.
Other fairytale misfits add surprises such Pinocchio, Gingy, the Big Bad Wolf, the Three Little Pigs, the Wicked Witch, Peter Pan, the Pied Piper, and many more characters you will know and love!

This entertaining, family-friendly show features a terrific score, spectacular costumes, dance numbers and comedy,” said Texas Theatre Marketing Director Dana Goolsby. “We’ve been getting calls for several weeks from all over the state about tickets.
